ZTE reveals Project CSX winner

24 OCT 2016

ZTE said the winning device in its Project CSX consumer-led programme is an “eye tracking, self-adhesive phone”.

The company said “thousands of consumers from 176 countries” participated in the voting process, “from ideation through conceptualisation”. The winning device will reach the market in 2017.

The eye tracking, self-adhesive phone landed 36 per cent of the vote, with other top scorers being intelligent smartphone covers (21 per cent), a “stock Android flagship phone” (19 per cent) and “VR-Interactive diving mask” (8 per cent).

ZTE said that the crowdsourced element of the project may not be completely over, with further opportunity to determine device name, product colour, and more.

“As the first smartphone manufacturer to take on crowdsourcing its next mobile device from start to finish, we are proud of how this project pushed the envelope, and that consumers from around the world have chosen to be part of this industry-disrupting process,” said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA.

ZTE started Project CSX in August 2016, gathering input from its Z-Community member forum.
