EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: ZTE is seeking input from consumers as it looks to build its position in higher-tier markets, Kan Yulun, CEO for the vendor’s devices business in EMEA and Latin America, told Mobile World Live.

The company is already following this path in China, is launching in the US, “and later I think that in other main countries, we will also start this”, the executive said at CES 2016 earlier this month.

At the event, ZTE unveiled its Z-Community forum, which will “help shape the future of ZTE mobile devices and services”, including a “community-sourced mobile device” called Project CSX, which will be unveiled next year.

The ZTE executive gave examples of how the effort has aided device development in China, including input on camera features and user interface options. In the case of the force touch enabled Axon series, this included shortcuts which users wanted to see from button presses.
