ZTE said that it is partnering with silicon company Nvidia to deliver “the first super phones powered by the Nvidia Tegra 4 mobile processor”, with the first models set to reach the market “before mid-year”.

In a statement, the aggressive Chinese device maker said it has a “strategic partnership” with Nvidia, enabling it to use the processor which was only announced earlier this year. ZTE has previously used chips from the vendor in devices such as its Grand X.

Tegra 4 will allow devices to deliver “ultra-fast web browsing, improved app load times, more realistic gaming experiences and great battery life”.

ZTE also said it is working to use Tegra 4 alongside Nvidia’s i500 modem to deliver “a new LTE super phone”.

He Shiyou, head of ZTE’s Terminal Division, said: “This is a clear demonstration of ZTE’s ability to quickly develop, and bring to market, market-leading devices running the industry’s latest technologies.”
