Xiaomi announced a new tablet and smartphone, with the former set to be available in a version supporting Microsoft’s Windows 10 platform.

The tablet, Mi Pad 2, has a 7.9-inch screen with the same resolution as an iPad Mini 4 (2048×1536 pixels), 8MP rear and 5MP front cameras, powered by an Intel 2.2GHz quadcore processor, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB or 64GB of storage.

Other features include a Type-C USB port, reading mode which reduces blue light, and features designed to prevent accidental keypad presses.

Pricing is CNY999 ($156) or CNY1299 depending on storage option (16GB or 64GB).

While the device will ship with Xiaomi’s Miui platform, according to reports a version with Windows 10 will be available next month (in 64GB storage version only). Microsoft has already revealed work with Xiaomi.

The new smartphone is RedMi Note 3, and Xiaomi used the event to talk-up the success of its predecessor (RedMi Note 2). In 100 days, the company sold 6.09 million units with revenue of CNY4.88 billion.

RedMi Note3The updated device has a 5.5-inch full-HD screen, 13MP main and 5MP front cameras, fingerprint sensor and full metal body.

It is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 processor, and priced at CNY899 for 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, or CNY1099 for 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
