Samsung announced another addition to its “Galaxy S4” product line, Galaxy S4 Active, which it said offers the features of the flagship “with added innovative protective design elements”.

The device has certified protection against dust and water, and also has a waterproof headphone jack that “allows users to keep listening to their music in even the most adventurous conditions”.

Galaxy S4 Active also supports the main features of the Galaxy S4, including Smart Pause and Smart Scroll, which enable users to control the device without touching the screen either via eye tracking or wrist movements.

In terms of differences, it has a lower resolution main camera, and is slightly larger than the original Galaxy S4.

The device is the third to carry the Galaxy S4 name, alongside the original and the Galaxy S4 Mini, which was announced last week.

However, the Galaxy S4 Mini has a significantly different feature set to both the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S4 Active, which appear to be more closely related.

Galaxy S4 Active will be available “beginning this summer”, with initial retail availability in the US and Sweden. It will come with Grey, Blue and Orange colour options.
