Samsung said it had started manufacturing chips using its latest process technology, including both its own Exynos products and Qualcomm’s anticipated Snapdragon 820.

It is producing chips using its 14nm Low-Power Plus process, the second generation of its 14nm FinFET process technology.

The South Korean company said that the new process delivers a significant performance boost and reduced power consumption.

The earlier 14nm Low-Power Early was used for its Exynos 7 Octa processor, as used in Samsung’s flagship smartphones.

In addition to Snapdragon 820, the process is being used for Samsung’s Exynos 8 Octa, which is the company’s first premium one-chip solution to combine application processor and modem.
