Reports: HTC working on One, Butterfly updates

12 NOV 2013

The next flagship smartphone from troubled vendor HTC came into the spotlight, after supposedly leaked images of the device were published.

According to reports, the device is codenamed M8 – the current HTC One was codenamed M7 – and is likely to feature a fingerprint scanner, a feature introduced by the Taiwanese vendor in its One Max phablet.

It is also claimed to use an updated version of HTC’s Sense user interface, and include a different design to the HTC One which is intended to minimise production difficulties – HTC One was delayed reaching the market.

HTC has similarly been rumoured to be working on an update to its APAC-focused Butterfly smartphone, which will feature a larger 5.2-inch HD screen, quadcore Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, camera similar to that used in the current One line, and front-facing stereo speakers.

The fact that the Taiwanese vendor is readying new devices is hardly a surprise: One debuted in February 2013, while Butterfly reached the market before this.
