Chinese device maker Oppo “premiered” its latest smartphone, R7s, at an event in the United Arab Emirates, as it looks to “improve its brand influence as well as market share in the MENA region”.

The device joins the vendor’s R7 series, sharing the metal unibody design of its siblings, and also includes 4GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, an “expansive 5.5-inch AMOLED 2.5D screen”, and “ultra-large 3070mAh battery”.

The smartphone is powered by an octacore Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. Other features include dual-SIM support, with one slot also able to be used for expandable memory; VOOC Flash Charge fast charging technology; and 13MP rear and 8MP front cameras.

It runs Oppo’s own in-house platform, ColorOS 2.1, which is based on Android 5.1 and “has been thoroughly upgraded”. It is said to deliver a faster boot and be optimised for power saving, while also “providing a more elegant and intuitive interface, smoother operation, a better image experience and richer mobile internet services”.

Starting from next month, the device will be sold in ten different countries and regions, including Singapore, Australia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand, as well as MENA. Consumers in Europe and the US will be able to buy in December.
