Ambitious smartphone player OnePlus is reportedly readying a high-spec, small screen smartphone, enabling it to target a market that is currently underserved by most top-tier vendors.

While the portfolios of the key Android players include small screen devices, these tend to fall short of the specifications offered in flagship devices. The closest exception to the rule is the “compact” version of Sony’s Xperia flagships, which are close to the bigger brother.

According to reports, OnePlus 2 Mini will have a 4.6-inch full-HD screen, giving an impressive 479 pixels per inch. Also on the spec sheet would be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Other features would include a 12MP rear and 5MP front camera.

A launch would also reflect OnePlus’ ramping of its device efforts, with a move to offering several devices at a time.

In addition to its second flagship phone, OnePlus 2, the company this year launched the “design-centric” OnePlus X.
