HTC’s long-anticipated One Max phablet appears to be nearing the market, with the device apparently set to be unveiled next week.

The phablet, which is dominated by its 5.9-inch full-HD display, has been pictured with a Verizon Wireless logo on the rear, indicating it will be made available by the US operator.

It has also appeared in the database of the Global Certification Forum, having been certified as far back as July – shortly after the One mini, and around the time it was first reported.

GigaOM noted that a mid-October launch will see HTC competing squarely with Samsung’s Galaxy Note 3 – having missed the window of opportunity to get its flagship One device to market ahead of the launch of the Galaxy S4.

There are still some question marks over the specification of the device, as well. While some reports suggest it will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, others have said it will use an older chip – with various possible reasons cited.

Also apparently on the feature list is a fingerprint scanner, located on the rear cover.

It is also not likely to feature stylus input, unlike the Galaxy Note 3.
