ZTE marked the third anniversary of its Nubia brand with an update to its Z9 series of devices, which are available in China now with a global launch slated for 2016.

The line comprises the Z9 Max Elite, Z9 Mini Elite, and an anniversary edition of Z9.

The Elite-badged smartphones are said to feature upgraded software, “offering an elevated and improved user experience”. Z9 Max Elite (pictured) is also said to be “the first of its kind to incorporate a highly touch-sensitive frame which features an additional volume control as well as a fingerprint sensor”.

Z9 Mini Elite includes iris recognition technology, and “frame interactive technology” which enables applications to be opened, closed and switched using edge gestures.

The business said it is “now focusing on rapid global expansion in earnest”. It said it has successfully moved into Russia, India, Southeast Asia, Europe and South America.

“There is a high consumer demand for smartphones particularly in emerging markets and it is our goal to provide them with exciting digital experiences by continuing to shock the world with game-changing technologies,” Ni Fei, SVP of Nubia Technology, said.
