Nokia announced its Asha 310 device, the first of its type from the vendor to include both dual SIM and Wi-Fi support.

The device – which forms part of Nokia’s feature phone line intended to rival low-cost smartphones – will be launched in Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa and Brazil imminently. It will be priced at around $100.

According to the company, the device has a secondary SIM slot which can be easily swapped, while the primary SIM remains in place behind the battery.

Aside from the headline dual SIM/Wi-Fi feature, the specification of the device reflects its positioning.

It has a 3-inch touch screen, 2G-only connectivity, 2 megapixel camera, and Micro SD storage slot.

It also includes Nokia’s Xpress Browser, which is designed to compress internet data by up to 90 percent, and in India, Indonesia and Nigeria will support the vendor’s Life content service.
