Nokia augments Asha handset line

26 NOV 2012

Nokia added two more devices to its Asha mass-market device range, including the recovering vendor’s first handset with a dedicated Facebook button.

Asha 205 (pictured) and Asha 206 are both expected to begin shipping imminently, priced at US$62 excluding taxes and subsidies, and available in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants.

Asha 205 has a QWERTY keyboard, whereas the Asha 206 has a candybar form factor.

The devices also introduce a new feature, called Slam, which the vendor said “allows consumers to share multimedia content like photos and videos with nearby friends almost instantly”.

Slam works with “most Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones” – although not the vendor’s own Windows Phone smartphones – without the need to pair devices, and without the recipient needing to also have Slam.
