Nokia announced its previously reported Lumia 928 smartphone, a device exclusive to US number one operator Verizon Wireless.

The device is similar in specification to the previously announced Lumia 920 for WCDMA networks, although its dimensions are different. The headline feature is its enhanced imaging capabilities, including “Nokia’s award-winning PureView imaging innovation” and 8.7 megapixel camera.

It also includes “distortion-free audio capture, even in noisy conditions”, through three high-audio-amplitude-capture (HAAC) microphones, supplemented by “one of the most advanced loudspeakers available for smartphones”.

Lumia 928 is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor, with 1GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It has a 4.5-inch WXGA screen, and supports NFC and wireless charging.

A specification sheet available from the Nokia website shows the Lumia 928 as a “world phone”, with GSM/WCDMA support in addition to CDMA. But the document omits to list LTE support, whereas a Verizon statement describes it as “specially designed and optimised for the nation’s largest 4G network”.

It will be available for sale next week for $99 after a $50 rebate with a two-year customer agreement. Early adopters will get also get a $25 credit for Windows Phone apps and games.
