Motorola is reportedly planning to announce a smartphone next week which will bolster the company’s international proposition.

According to reports, the Google-owned company is readying a device called Moto G, which will at least to some degree resemble the US-focused Moto X.

The company has tweeted a teaser in multiple languages, which was seen as an indication that this time it is planning a multi-territory rollout.

However, there are numerous discrepancies between various sources as to the potential specification of the smartphone.

For example, it has been reported that it will feature 1.2GHz or 1.5GHz quadcore processors; the screen size has been suggested as 4.5-inch and 4.7-inch; and the camera as 5 megapixels and 8 megapixels.

These seem to suggest that the new device will target more cost-conscious consumers than Moto X.

One Moto X feature that is unlikely to find its way to the new device is the customisation capabilities – a wide range of options are open to US customers of the device.

The logistics of offering such a service on an international basis are likely to cause a big barrier.
