Wearables company Misfit partnered with Speedo to launch “the first device of its kind that was designed with swimmers in mind”.

The device, Speedo Shine, apparently comes as part of a “long-term partnership” between the companies. It will be available from Apple stores worldwide, as well as from the Misfit and Speedo websites.

Speedo Shine is said to include proprietary lap counting algorithms embedded into its firmware, to track a swimmer with “industry-leading accuracy”. It syncs with the Misfit apps for iOS and Android and will soon work with Speedo’s personalised swim tracking app, Speedo Fit.

The wearable is apparently “made out of durable and beautiful aircraft-grade aluminium”, in a new light sliver colour. It is waterproof to 50 metres.
