LG Electronics said it will launch its new flagship smartphone, G2, in the US and Germany – “two of its key markets” – in September.

Officially unveiled last month, the recovering smartphone maker said that the launch of the Android-powered G2 in South Korea “proved to us that the LG G2’s consumer-oriented innovation does resonate with customers”.

“The LG G2 was developed as a global device for a global audience, beyond the scope of any smartphone we’ve introduced to date. I’m confident consumers will see the difference,” said Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG’s Mobile Communications Company.

G2 has a 5.2-inch screen, 13 megapixel camera, and is powered by a quadcore 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.
