LG said its flagship G5 smartphone will become available globally from this week, with South Korea and US set to lead the way.

This will be followed by markets in Europe, Asia and Middle East, “among others”. Around 200 operators worldwide have committed to offer the South Korean company’s latest flagship.

The device, unveiled at Mobile World Congress 2016, picked up the Best New Smartphone award at the show.

“Since MWC, LG G5 and Friends have captured the imagination of consumers everywhere with its engaging take on mobile technology,” Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG’s mobile business, said.

“Modularity has been talked about for years but no one was able to consumerise it until now, and we are happy to take on the mantle”, he continued.

Pricing and exact availability details will be announced separately for each market.
