LG Electronics continued its run of pre-Mobile World Congress releases by unveiling its Optimus F Series smartphone line, which it said “is designed to bring a premium user experience and the speed of 4G LTE to a mass audience”.

The company will showcase two Android-powered devices next week, the F5 (pictured), which has a 4.3-inch screen and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and the F7, which has a 4.7-inch screen a 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Both also include large capacity batteries.

Both devices also support the vendor’s QSlide feature, which enables users to open two apps at the same time, both in full-screen mode, and Live Zooming, which allows zooming into specific areas of a video while viewing. The company said that these were “previously only available in LG’s premium devices”.

In a statement, Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG’s Mobile Communications business, said that “we are sending a clear message to consumers with the Optimus F Series that LTE isn’t just for heavy content users and techies anymore. It’s for everyone”.

Availability of the Optimus F5 will begin in the second quarter in Europe, followed “soon” by the Optimus F7 in “selected markets”. Exact timing and pricing will be announced later.

So far, the company has also unveiled its Optimus G Pro phablet, and detailed an update to its L Series line – which has passed the 15 million unit sales mark. It has also showcased an ‘LTE-enabled Tab-Book’, a Windows 8-powered tablet with a slide-out keyboard, making it “more functional than a conventional tablet”.
