LG Electronics announced the Asian rollout of its Optimus G Pro phablet, debuting in Hong Kong in June before rolling out in markets including Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand, India, Indonesia, Philippine, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Announced earlier this year, the device has a 5.5-inch full HD screen (1080p), and is powered by a 1.7GHz quad core processor. It also has a 13 megapixel rear camera and 2.1 megapixel front camera, with support for dual recording, and is powered by Android 4.1.2.

In a statement, Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG’s Mobile Communications Company, said that devices in the “over 5-inch display smartphone category” are “catching on with consumers everywhere who aren’t interested in owning both a phone and a tablet”.

“Asian customers are leading many of today’s technology trends and we’re confident Optimus G Pro will find a large following in this region,” the executive continued.
