Huawei Y530 set for UK debut

17 FEB 2014

Huawei announced UK availability of its “stylish yet easy to use Ascend Y530”, an entry-level device which has previously been revealed by the vendor.

The entry-level smartphone does not appear to have been picked-up by operators, and will instead be available from retailers Argos and Carphone Warehouse from March 2014.

Pricing was not revealed, although an earlier German announcement mooted a price of €149 contract-free.

The device is apparently “designed with less confident smartphone users in mind”, and includes the vendor’s “simple Android interface”, which can be used in place of the standard UI to offer “a stress-free smartphone experience which is perfect for the first or second time smartphone user”.

Ascend Y530 has a 4.5-inch screen, and has a 5MP main camera. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dualcore processor, and runs Android 4.3.
