HTC announced another set of poor monthly sales figures, as it struggles to reassert itself against strong competition in the smartphone market.

For February, the company reported revenue of TWD11.37 billion ($383.9 million), down 26.82 per cent compared with its February 2012 sales figures.

It is the 16th consecutive month where it has reported a drop in year-on-year sales – the last time it was able to post a positive comparison was October 2011.

The company previously said it expects Q1 revenue to be in the TWD50 billion to TWD60 billion range. Combined sales for the first two months of the year were TWD26.9 billion.

Last month, the ailing smartphone pioneer unveiled its new flagship smartphone, HTC One, which is set for broad availability imminently and is regarded as critical to the company’s future success. It has said it is anticipating a “material increase in revenue” following the launch.
