Samsung is reported to be readying a set of Galaxy S4 variants, to capitalise on momentum generated by the launch of the South Korean vendor’s latest flagship smartphone.

According to reports originating from Wall Street Journal, a ruggedised version is likely to be released as the Galaxy S4 Active, which will be waterproof and dustproof. Observers likened this to Sony’s Xperia Z, which has similar features.

And this will be joined by a Galaxy S4 Mini, which will feature a smaller display than the standard S4 (which is 5-inches).

Samsung already offers a “Mini” version of the Galaxy SIII, and while this resembles its bigger brother in design, in terms of specifications in is closer to the earlier Galaxy S2.
