BLU Products, which describes itself as “one of the fastest growing mobile phone manufacturers in the world”, announced its Vivo HD 4.8 smartphone, which it said is “the thinnest device in the market to utilise a 4.8-inch or larger AMOLED display”.

The device is 6.9mm in depth, and has a unibody design that is available in a number of colours – black and white, as well as the eye-catching “electric neon yellow” and “glimmer pink”.

The Android 4.2-powered Vivo 4.8 HD has a mid-tier feature set: it is powered by a 1.5GHz quadcore MediaTek processor with 1GB of RAM, and has 16GB of storage (not expandable). It has an 8 megapixel integrated camera, and includes HSPA mobile support.

It is being made available via “several distributors, dealers and online retailers” in the US and Latin America, priced at $249 unlocked.

Founded in 2009, BLU Products said it “designs and manufactures affordable, attractive and innovative mobile devices to suit a wide variety of consumer needs”. It is based in Miami, Florida.
