BLU Products, which describes itself as “one of the fastest-growing mobile phone manufacturers in the world”, announced a pair of smartphones targeting the North American market.

Samuel Ohev-Zion, CEO of the company, said: “BLU Products has seen an unprecedented increase in demand for our smartphone lineup in the United States. We have responded by introducing handsets which will work on every GSM carrier and network in North America, making it easier for consumers looking to purchase a no contract BLU unlocked device, now offering the consumer no limitations when choosing a network service provider.”

The company said it has sold more than ten million devices in more than 40 countries.

Studio 5.0 II is the inspiringly-named successor to the Studio 5.0 which was released in April of this year, while maintaining the same $139.00 unlocked price point. It has an improved 5.0-inch display, and upgraded 5.0 megapixel camera, faster processor (1.3GHz dualcore), and improved HSPA+ speeds with multi-band 850/1700/1900 support.

This is joined by Advance 4.0 (pictured), priced at $89.00. It has a 4.0-inch WVGA display, 5.0 megapixel camera with LED flash, dualcore 1.3GHz processor and HSPA support, “with high end materials and finishing, positioning itself as the best priced handset in its class”.

In both cases, the devices are powered by processors from Taiwan’s MediaTek.

Both devices feature dual SIM support with dual active functionality. They are powered by Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

Founded in 2009, BLU Products said it “designs and manufactures affordable, attractive and innovative mobile devices to suit a wide variety of consumer needs”. The Miami, Florida-based company said it offers its devices unlocked through “thousands of dealer agents, MVNOs, and large retailers throughout the US and Latin America”.
