PRESS RELEASE: As intelligent technologies rapidly evolve, industries are undergoing profound transformations. A prime example is the introduction of intelligence into radio access networks (RANs), which has revolutionized network O&M, user experience, energy consumption management, and service patterns in the wireless industry.

Huawei’s RAN Embodied Intelligence System, a cutting-edge solution, leverages agents (powered by telecom foundation models and RAN digital twins) and Ambient Sites to drive real-time network and service sensing, multi-objective predictive analysis and decision-making, and agile policy execution. This innovation fosters new applications and business models, boosts network productivity, and creates new opportunities and value for industries.

As a pioneer in constructing intelligent RAN, China Mobile Hangzhou has partnered with Huawei in automatic network maintenance and optimization based on embodied intelligence. In this partnership, the operator’s role shifts from a solution user to a co-creator. By integrating RAN agents into the live networks, they have, over several months, successfully developed practical applications such as FME Mate, a wireless base station O&M assistant, and HoloMap, a wireless network analysis assistant. These tools have not only improved O&M efficiency and service quality but also lowered the operational threshold, laying the groundwork for high-level autonomous networks. To date, these applications have served over 100 engineers.

FME Mate helps site engineers rectify faults independently. By combining network topology and automatic fault analysis and diagnosis, it provides clear, step-by-step instructions. In Hangzhou, over 50 site engineers now use this assistant in their daily work, improving fault repair efficiency by 30% to 40%. Even new engineers can troubleshoot and resolve issues without backend expert support.

HoloMap assists network optimization engineers in personalized real-time network analysis and report generation. Utilizing telecom foundation models, it learns and processes call statistics and configuration data from 20,000 base stations in Hangzhou in real time, aiding engineers in managing regional network performance and pinpointing network issues. Personalized network analysis reports can be generated within 1 minute through natural language interaction or simple on-screen operations. Compared with previous report building, the time is slashed by more than 90%, making network management simpler and more efficient.

Zhou Haijiao, Deputy Manager of China Mobile Hangzhou’s Network Department, said, “We have worked with Huawei to develop multiple intelligent applications, which effectively improve the work efficiency of engineers and then provide powerful RAN support for the construction of Smart Hangzhou.”

Li Wuyang, Vice President of Huawei Wireless Network MAE Product Line, remarked, “Huawei is transitioning from a solution provider to a co-creator of intelligent RAN. By continuously developing high-value applications, we aim to offer broader commercial value to operators, accelerate network transformation, and lead the wireless communications industry into a new era of intelligence.”

The joint innovation of intelligent RAN in Hangzhou marks an important step forward in applying intelligent technologies in communications networks. Looking ahead, Huawei eagerly anticipates partnering with global operators to create, develop, and expand intelligent RAN ecosystems, helping them achieve a second growth curve, build low-carbon and efficient networks, and accelerate the journey towards a smart world.
