China’s operators invested $14B in 4G last year
China’ three mobile operators invested CNY91.3 billion ($14.2 billion) in their 4G networks last year and boosted the number of base stations in the country to about 1.5 million, which is more than half the global total.

China Mobile’s 4G investment last year hit CNY55.7 billion, while China Telecom spent CNY23 billion on 4G and China Unicom invested CNY12.6 billion, C114.net reported.

The market leader has rolled out more than one million TD-LTE base stations. China Telecom has 360,000 outdoor and indoor base stations and China Unicom has 213,000 sites.

Huawei expects 2015 revenue to jump 35%
Chinese telecoms equipment vendor Huawei expects its 2015 revenue to expand 35 per cent and reach CNY390 billion (almost $61 billion).

For the first half of last year, it reported revenue increased 30 per cent to CNY175.9 billion, with an 18 per cent operating margin.

The company recently announced it hit its target of shipping 100 million smartphones in 2015.

Airtel completes Augere acquisition
India’s largest operator Bharti Airtel completed the acquisition of 100 per cent of Augere Wireless, which holds 20MHz of 4G spectrum in Madhya Pradesh state.

Augere spent INR1.25 billion ($195 million) for the 2.3GMHz spectrum in 2010 but has not launched 4G services.

Warid expands 4G service to 8 new cities
Pakistan’s Warid Telecom said it expanded 4G service to eight new cities to take its LTE total to 30.

Warid, the country’s fifth largest operator with an 8.5 per cent market share, launched commercial 4G service in December 2014 and had 285,000 4G connections at the end of last year, according to GSMA Intelligence.

It is offering customers in the eight new cities a seven-day free trial with a 4G SIM replacement, ProPakistani said.
