New Zealand’s second largest mobile operator Spark has announced a major management reshuffle, with six of the chief executive’s eight direct reports leaving or changing roles.

The operator, with a 37 per cent market share (behind Vodafone with a 40 per cent share), said on its website that the leadership changes were “to steer the company through the next phase of the transformation”. It noted that most of the changes won’t take effect for several months.

Spark Digital CEO Tim Miles and Spark Ventures CEO Rod Snodgrass both will leave the company towards the end of the year. Spark CFO Jolie Hodson will take over for Miles at the business-oriented unit.

Spark MD Simon Moutter said Snodgrass would be replaced by an internal candidate, while he has already identified an external candidate to take over for Hodson.

Spark Connect COO David Havercroft will move into the role of chief transformation officer, with Connect senior executive Mark Beder replacing Havercroft, a change that was announced earlier. Claire Barber, currently GM of the change and technology unit, has been promoted to chief digital officer. These three changes will take effect 1 July.
