Chinese vendor Huawei attributed a strong growth in first half sales to “a well-balanced global presence and an unwavering focus on our pipe strategy”.

The company said sales in the first half grew by 40 per cent to CNY245.5 billion ($36.8 billion). Operating margin was 12 per cent, down from 18 per cent in the same period last year.

Sabrina Meng, CFO, said it is confident the company will maintain its current momentum, and “round out the full year in a positive financial position backed by sound ongoing operations”.

The company cited growth across all of its operating businesses.

Huawei said its enterprise business is on a “fast development track”, while its consumer business has maintained steady growth globally, with its flagship products, such as the P9, Mate 8 and Honor V8, winning support from consumers around the world.

For its carrier group, the company said it is working to support operators’ “digital transformation” across four areas: business operations, architecture and networks. It is also “driving development of cutting-edge technologies such as 5G and IoT”.

The company has set a revenue target of $75 billion this year — revenue last year was $59 billion.
