The Philippines’ second largest operator Globe Telecom today launched what it says is Southeast Asia’s first Disney Mobile smartphones.

Through its myStarter postpaid plans, which start at PHP750 ($16) per month, Globe is first offering 4G Disney Mobile handsets with three themes: Mickey Mouse, Frozen and Disney Princess.

The dual-SIM smartphones run on Android’s Lollipop operating system and have a 5-inch HD IPS screen, 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera.

“The arrival of Disney Mobile in the Philippines is one of the milestones of our multi-year comprehensive partnership with the Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia,” said Dan Horan, senior adviser for Globe’s consumer business. “We are thrilled to offer these phones exclusively through our budget-friendly myStarter postpaid plans.”

James Gray, Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia’s GM for Disney Interactive, said Disney continues to actively pursue innovative digital media opportunities and provide fans with the best entertainment experience on whatever platform they want. “Smartphones have immensely changed the way Filipinos consume entertainment, and Disney Mobile allows us to bring our content closer to more fans in a fun and personal way,” he said.

Created for the Disney fan and themed around popular Disney franchises, Globe said in a statement “the smartphones carry the signature aesthetic of the Disney brand from its lively colours to matching themed accessories”.

Each handset has custom content, with the interface displaying tailored app icons, Disney-themed live and static wallpapers, widgets and exclusive re-recordings of famous Disney songs as ringtones. Premium Disney apps are also included in each device.

Disney Mobile handsets are produced by Cellprime in the Philippines.

Globe began to collaborate with Disney last year to gain access to its broad range of content under the Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and Maker Studios brands.
