Philippine operator Globe Telecom introduced an e-commerce platform in partnership with AppDirect, to give local enterprises access to cloud-based business applications.

The AppMarket offers a range of software-as-a-service (SaaS) applications such as CRM, web conferencing, e-marketing and online storage. The platform enables business customers to find, buy and manage business services in one place with one bill and one login, Globe said in a statement.

The cloud has changed the way businesses distribute and use software, said Mike Frausing, Globe’s senior adviser for enterprise and IT enabled services. “Partnering with AppDirect’s enterprise-grade platform will securely handle every aspect of cloud services monetisation and management for Globe, including provisioning, billing, product integration, identity and access, and application management.”

The AppDirect cloud service commerce platform unites providers, developers and consumers of cloud services into a single ecosystem.

Globe is the country’s second largest mobile operator with a 43 per cent market share, up from 38 per cent a year ago, and expanded its user base by seven million last year to 51 million connections, according to GSMA Intelligence.
