Vodafone New Zealand has lost an appeal to recover NZ$17.9 million (US$12.9 million) that it claimed was overpaid into a fund that supports economically unviable telecoms services, typically in rural areas, according to Cellular News. Vodafone argued that the Commerce Commission had failed to take into account mobile telecoms options when setting its 2003 telecommunications services obligations (TSO) levy.
