Twitter-owned Periscope announced an upgrade that will allow users to search for specific broadcasts by title or topic, as well as revealing plans to support livestreaming on footage shot by drones.

In the coming weeks, Periscope said it will equip the application with the new features, as it looks to enhance and expand its livestream broadcasting application.

The search capability will not only allow users to search for broadcasts, but it will also pull up a list of suggested topics to search for. Users will also be able to broadcast about a specific topic, which will be linked by the relevant hashtag, such as Music or Travel.

The search functionality also allows users to “welcome new broadcasters in our community,” under the ‘First Scope’ topic, and includes two other categories – GoPros, where users can find broadcasts from the camera, and Drones, a first for the company.

Periscope said users will be able to broadcast from a supported DJI drone by connecting an iPhone to the drone remote. During the broadcast, users can narrate from a bird’s eye view using their phones, and the video feed can switch between the drone video, iPhone camera and even the GoPro.

The company has also recently introduced an option that allows users to save broadcasts for more than 24 hours, which will also be rolled out in the next few weeks.

“Our goal is to give you full control of your broadcasts,” Periscope said in a blog post.
