Social gaming giant Zynga announced it is to offer three new HTML5-based games to support Facebook’s HTML5-based mobile games efforts, stating that the titles will be “the first large-scale games to be built using HTML5.”

The company will launch three titles, Zynga Poker Mobile Web, Words With Friends HTML5, and Farmville Express – the last of which builds on the success of its existing Farmville brand.

In a statement, Zynga said that games will deliver faster load times, smoother game play and near immediate responses to player actions – “all within a mobile browser.” They use HTML5 tools such as WebSockets and CSS4 to deliver a “seamless gaming experience, and create fluid animations without slowing down game play.”

The company also announced a planned mobile product called Dream Zoo, which it described as “the first zoo themed game from Zynga.” It will be available in multiple languages initially via Apple’s App Store, followed by Android Market.

Zynga, which is in the process of a US$1 billion initial public offering, has so far had a limited exposure to the mobile market – although it has identified it as a key growth area. The company has inked a deal with AT&T to offer products for Android smartphone users, and has made a number of acquisitions to bolster its position in this market.
