Vodafone India launched an app store offering more than 10,000 titles across major mobile operating systems, powered by white-label store player Appia.

Called Vodafone Mobile Application Store, it will offer free and paid apps for platforms including Android, Java, Symbian and BlackBerry. Categories supported include games, entertainment, social networking and local culture.

The catalogue includes an “extensive collection” of material from local providers, including Hungama, India Games, Nazara and Spice. Appia said that Vodafone had used its Appia Developer Program to work with local content partners, enabling it to aggregate products and ensure that apps “meet the distinct needs and tastes of the Vodafone India subscribers.”

Appia said that developers interested in distributing apps via the Vodafone Mobile Application store should visit its developer website.
