Twitter said that its first mobile developer conference, Twitter Flight, will take place on 22 October in San Francisco.

In a post on a Twitter blog, Jeff Sandquist, director of developer and platform relations, said that attendees will be able to find out how Twitter “can help you build the best mobile apps”.

CEO Dick Costolo will speak at the event, which will also include a series of technical sessions and a chance to meet Twitter engineers.

As well as the Flight announcement, the company rolled out a revamped version of its developer website, with content reorganised so it is easier for users to find the information they’re after.

Additional features will be added to the site in the next few weeks.

“Our mission is to provide you with the tools you need to build great apps — and great businesses. We hope to see you soon at Flight,” Sandquist concluded.

Twitter has been making efforts to better address mobile developers recently.

It launched mobile app promotion in July, enabling developers to drive installs and engagement via the platform. It also agreed to acquire TapCommerce, which provides mobile retargeting and re-engagement advertising.

Just this month, the microblogging company announced a small-scale US trial of a Buy button that retailers can embed into tweets, as it dips its toes into online shopping and m-commerce.
