Twitter may sell Vine - Mobile World Live

Twitter may sell Vine

08 NOV 2016

After deciding to shut down its Vine short form video service, Twitter received interest from more than 10 potential buyers, from which it has selected a shortlist of five, TechCrunch reported.

No names have been confirmed, although messaging app maker Line is believed to be on the list. Most offers have been for under $10 million, meaning Twitter will not get rich from the deal.

According to the report: “Vine could still benefit Twitter even if it’s owned by someone who would help it thrive and retain the strong integration between the two apps.”

It described the app as “one of the most culturally impactful video platforms” around, despite shrinkage in its user base, adding that support from the online community since Twitter’s announcement may have triggered interest.
