Telefonica Digital announced TU Go, an app which lets users make and receive calls, texts and voicemail from their existing O2 number, via any supported device.

Available to O2 Pay Monthly customers in the UK, it supports Apple devices (iOS 5 and above), Android devices (Gingerbread 2.3.1 and above) and Windows 7-powered PCs. Customers can use a single mobile number across any of these internet connected devices, seamlessly.

The app will work across Wi-Fi or mobile connections, and users can log in from up to five devices simultaneously. Incoming calls ring across all devices the app is installed on – as well as the user’s O2 handset – as are text messages.

Users are also able to access a device’s local address book and see all conversations and call history in one timeline, synced across all devices.

Calls made using TU Go are charged in-line with a customer’s existing O2 bundle.

“To date a customer’s phone number has been fixed to one particular device. TU Go changes this, turning the mobile phone into an app and making it possible for customers to enjoy their phone services across a wide range of devices”, said Jamie Finn, director of communications products at O2.

Last year, Telefonica Digital announced a VoIP app called TU Me, and describes the latest product as “the next phase in Telefonica’s strategy of innovating in its core business of communications”.

It will be launched in other Telefonica operating businesses this year.
