T-Mobile USA partnered with WildTangent to launch an Android gaming service, providing customers with the option of playing premium games for free, renting games, or purchasing them outright.

Consumers can access games through the WildTangent app, which will be available from the T-Mobile Mall, with new games added each week. Premium games can be played free of charge “after watching only a short video,” or games can be rented for US$0.25 for 24 hours.

Torrie Dorrell, VP of applications, content and games for T-Mobile USA, said: “games continue to be among the most popular activities for our customers using Android so we do our best to ensure they get the best value, and this service will give them great choices for how they choose to play games.”

WildTangent said the app will also be pre-installed in devices in the coming month. It will use its WildCoins virtual currency for rentals, in-game items and purchases.

Sean Vanderdasson, SVP at WildTangent, said: “game developers have needed a more fair way to be compensated for the hard work they put into developing great games. This model allows everyone to win since developers benefit from advertising and rental revenues.”
