US operator Sprint has launched an application developer contest for its WiMAX network. In partnership with WIRED, Reddit and Ars Technica, the Sprint 4G App Challenge is now accepting submissions through November 5. It will recognise the top performer in each of five categories – entertainment, gaming, productivity, social networking and multimedia. To register for contest rules, regulations and additional information, developers should visit www.sprint.com/appchallenge. Winners in each category will take home a US$50,000 prize, amongst other incentives. Sprint’s WiMAX smartphones to date support the Android platform.
