jqMobi said that it is the first mobile JavaScript framework to be used “by a major social network in a massive global deployment on tens of millions of iOS and Android mobile devices”.

According to the company, social network Badoo performed “extensive testing” of its jqMobil-based web app prior to rolling out to its user base in mid-August. Badoo is described as “a leading global social network with over 150 million users”.

jqMobi also said that Badoo has been a “very active” open-source participant in the project, contributing enhancements in areas including native scrolling in iOS, optimised long-list scrolling, and built-in memory leanup for plugins.

jqMobi is a JavaScript framework which is said to be specifically designed for speed and continuity on both iOS and Android, as well as other WebKit-based mobile devices.

It was originally developed under the auspices of appMobi, before being released as open-source in February 2012.
