SAP announced an enterprise app security alliance with Mocana, as part of the enterprise computing giant’s latest initiatives targeting the mobile market.

The company announced a deal to resell Mocana’s Mobile App Protection product, in a move designed “to meet increased demand for enterprise-class security for mobile apps”.

In a statement, SAP said that this will enable its customers to quickly add “fine grained usage and security policies to iOS and Android apps” without having to write additional code.

Once an application has been security wrapped, SAP’s Afaria platform can be used to deploy and manage apps, ensuring corporate data is secure even outside of the enterprise.

Adrian Turner, CEO of Mocana, said: “Our partnership with SAP helps cement Mocana as the market’s leading app security solution, a solution that helps enterprises deploy and manage the ‘long tail’ of specialised apps they use every day.”

SAP also announced SAP Mobile Secure, an enterprise mobility management platform intended to offer enterprise-grade security for devices, apps and content.

This includes a cloud edition of its Afaria mobile device management product, which it said is designed to help companies “quickly and easily secure and manage mobile devices for only one Euro per device per month”.

The latest Afaria release also includes Windows Phone 8 support.
