Samsung has increased the proportion of revenue that developers receive from in-app purchases made on its In-App Purchase 2.0 service.

Developers now receive 80 per cent of revenue from transactions made within apps, compared to the previous 70 per cent. Samsung takes the remaining 20 per cent.

The change came into force on 1 November and will remain in place until 30 April 2014.

Samsung said the move is “to stimulate interest and promote development in the Samsung Apps ecosystem”.

This change in revenue share applies to developers using Samsung’s In-App Purchase 2.0 service for Android apps sold within the Samsung Apps storefront. It does not apply to sales of paid apps.
