Chinese internet giant Tencent is set to launch an iOS app search engine in August or September 2012, following the launch of its Android version in June, Marbridge Daily reports.

Apparently, the company has eight patents pending for the service, called Haina. It was said that it has not been formally launched, but the Android version is available via the web.

The report also said that Tencent has formed partnerships with “dozens of mobile app stores,” allowing users to search across mobile platforms.

While Apple maintains ownership of its App Store for iOS, not allowing apps to be installed from unapproved sources, the Chinese market does have a higher proportion of “jailbroken” devices which can access other app portals.
