TechCrunch reports that Qualcomm has partnered with entertainment talent agency CAA to establish Creative Mobile Labs, the intention of which is “to bring together the Hollywood talent CAA represents (writers, directors, graphics artists) who are brimming with ideas for mobile apps but don’t know how to execute them with mobile app developers, and vice versa.”  According to the report, the new venture will come into the remit of Qualcomm Services Labs, the unit which oversees activities including its Neer location-based service app and Skifta place-shifting software. The amount of investment has not been disclosed.

According to TechCrunch, the intention is for Creative Mobile Labs to create new products rather than purely focusing on extensions to existing entertainment franchises.
