Quickoffice has launched a new version of its mobile office app with the addition of enterprise-grade security features.

Quickoffice ProSelect HD for iOS has been designed to help businesses deal with the proliferation of personal mobile devices being used for work purposes.

The update includes native iOS data encryption and data protection features that can be configured to fit with enterprise security policies.

Among the data protection features are different settings for Wi-Fi file sharing, cloud storage and cut and paste.

The app also includes a SaveBack API for secure file editing via certain cloud providers and applications that access network file storage. SaveBack can block users from saving documents to devices to reduce the potential for data leakage.

"While iOS allows users to open content within another application, it does not offer a secure way to 'save back' the edited content to the originating application, which leaves company data vulnerable," said Quickoffice SVP of engineering David Halpin.

The Quickoffice app is currently installed on more than 400 million devices around the world. Quickoffice ProSelect HD is available in Apple’s Store Volume Purchasing for Business programme, priced at US$29.99.
