Finnish mobile gaming company Grand Cru has completed a Series A funding round totalling €8.5 million, with investment coming from Qualcomm and Nokia.

The company said it will use the money to grow its team and support the launch of its first game ‘Supernauts’, which has been likened to ‘Minecraft’ with players solving puzzles and creating shareable worlds.

Qualcomm Ventures and Nokia Growth Partners are joined by lead investor IDInvest Partner. According to TechCrunch, Grand Cru has previously received funding from Lifeline Ventures, which also backed game developer Supercell.

Grand Cru is part of the successful game developer community in Helsinki which counts ‘Angry Birds’ maker Rovio among its members.
