German mobile developer Blue Lion Mobile has launched an Android version of its popular mobile gaming social network, Qeep. Previously only available for Java compatible featurephones, Qeep combines messaging and chat functions with interactive features such as live multi-player skill gaming, photo-blogging, “sound attacks” and virtual gifting. The social network currently boasts over 7 million registered users, a number that has doubled over the last year. The service counts more than 600 million mobile page impressions and over 2 million multi-player games every month, the company claims.

Qeep is available on over 1,000 Java compatible devices, but the launch of the Android app means it is available on smartphones for the first time. “As we have already been receiving many user requests from members of our online mobile community who are eager for an Android version of Qeep, we anticipate further success with today’s launch and the future development of our messaging and gaming app,” said Christian Schulte, managing director and co-founder of Blue Lion Mobile.

Qeep was first launched by the Cologne-based firm in late 2006. As well as the Android app, it is available as a free download at qeep.mobi.
