Mobile social gaming network PlayPhone has partnered with SingTel to bring its games platform to the Singapore-based operator group’s customers.

The PlayPhone portal will be branded WePlay and preloaded on Android-based devices provided by SingTel, allowing customers to access its range of social games. The platform also supports in-app purchases, chat and other social features.

PlayPhone CEO Ron Czerny told Forbes that WePlay will be tailored to each market where it is deployed. SingTel has a presence in Singapore, India, Indonesia, and Australia.

The deal with SingTel is the biggest operator partnership to date for PlayPhone. It has similar partnerships with Verizon Wireless, AT&T, Claro in Brazil and most recently, Sprint.

“This takes us to a completely different level on a global scale. Especially in Asia where mobile is the dominant platform and mobile gaming is exploding,” Czerny added.

“SingTel aims to bring exciting digital content and engaging mobile experience to our customers across Asia, and we are keen to work with local and international developers to do so,” said Cheong Hai Thoo, SingTel’s head of multimedia for Group Digital L!fe.
