Payments company PayPal has announced its software development kit (SDK) for Android, intended to make it easier for developers to accept in-app payments on the platform.

The SDK will be available to US developers on 15 May and is suitable for the Froyo version (2.2) of Android and above.

The Android payment technology accepts PayPal and credit card payments and, according to the company, “removes payment friction so developers can focus on creating amazing experiences”.

PayPal also stressed its security credentials saying that use of its SDK means developers “can significantly reduce their fraud prevention or PCI compliance responsibilities”.

The launch comes two months after the iOS SDK was launched, supporting devices running iOS5 or higher.
